Calling Creative Rusholme!

Creative Rusholme is community-led initiative with the aims to reposition Rusholme as a cultural destination, thus raising the cultural profile of the area, improving the neighbourhood for residents and supporting its economic growth. It was born out of the community organised ‘Imagine Rusholme’ engagement summits. We have compiled a report of the story so far  (please email) and we are inviting creative and cultural residents and partners to a ‘Creative Rusholme’ discussion:

Monday 14th July, 9 – 10.30am at Active Lifestyles Centre, Level 1, Denmark Road (jcn with Lloyd Street North), M15 6FG. http://bit.ly/Sy3GZN RSVP

So come along and celebrate what has been achieved so far, hear about the exciting new cultural projects for Rusholme, share ideas and work together.

Please get in touch for more info and if you would like to attend the discussion:

Kick Starting Summer

It looks like summer has arrived and Healthy Me Healthy Communities has been getting in the festival spirit for adding that feel good factor into your everyday life.

The eating well course at the Anson Community House will help with their street party celebrations with sharing food on Saturday 28th June – have a great day! The HMHC team are still buzzing from a great few days at the Manchester Mela in Rusholme making South Asian inspired jewellery and accessories – great hobby for relaxing and reflecting.

We are proud to be supporting NEPHRA Good Neighbours with their new film clubs with residents of New Moston enjoying the fabulous ‘Saving Mr Banks’ and after film discussion with an amazing cream-tea. Film Clubs are a great way to connect, get together and make new friends.

Healthy Me Healthy Communities has been busy working hard on new projects and we will be soon launching ‘Social and Security’ partnering with the Birch Community Centre in Rusholme – a community-space for reducing isolation and building resourceful communities. Thinking ahead, we have a new programme of enterprise and training courses starting September. More soon on www.healthymehealthycommunities.co.uk and Twitter HMHCmcr.

But back to summer with the Healthy Me Healthy Communities family passport of activities at Fallowfield Children’s Centre with some really fun cooking, creative and craft workshops for happy and healthy Fallowfield families.

So let’s toast summer and the start of more great things to come.

Enterprising Communities

Healthy Me Healthy Communities is delighted to have been successful in securing an ESF Community Learning Grant administered by WEA (North West Region). The funding is for ‘Together We-Can’: a package of social-enterprise and food work training for adults (19+) taking steps to employment or further training.

All these free, exciting and new programmes include practical sessions, group workshops and celebration events.
