Rusholme Film Club and Festival update

Hi,

Thanks for all your support in making Rusholme Film Club a success, it is great to see regular members and welcoming new friends to the Club.

The Film Club will resume September but there could be some summer events and I will keep you posted.

Film Festival

We are exploring a Rusholme Film Festival and early feedback is very positive with lots of offers from cultural partners. Early thoughts are for an educational programme for film-making and film appreciation around the film club showings, to build involvement and shape the festival. The festival will contribute to ‘Creative Rusholme’ – a cultural network for branding and promoting Rusholme as a cultural destination.

Thanks for those who have completed the Survey Monkey survey, if you haven’t please spare a minute! svy.mk/1llC7PS  or if you have skills that could contribute to the programme or would to get involved please drop me an email.

And finally, a film of Rusholme Sewing Bees http://bit.ly/1pyj9oq was included in the Ginsberg Film Festival, South Africa as part of the Manchester 360 showings! So from small acorns…..Rusholme’s own film festival!

That’s all for now folks!

5 easy ways to your 5 a day

Struggling to get your 5 a day fruit and vegetable sin your daily diet?

Well here are 5 easy tips and recipes to get you started:

1.       Add fruit to your breakfast like simply adding a banana to porridge

2.       Make a simple fruit dessert by chopping your favourite fruit and topping with a low-fat creamy yoghurt. Or this simple fruit crumble http://bbc.in/1olvWxn

3.       Swap your lunchtime sandwich for a tasty soup. Our favourites from our ‘Street Food Inc’ mobile cookery workshops are sweet potato soup http://bbc.in/1gkFZsA and the souper easy leek and potato soup http://bbc.in/1hZ0mwC

4.       Add extra vegetables to your main dishes, try adding a few frozen nuggets of spinach to curries and casseroles- also works great in fish pie

5.       Make a tasty vegetable snack from left-overs like cold carrots and cauliflower are transformed with a tasty dip. And that leftover portion of casserole vegetables is a tasty lunchtime soup.
